4 States (not counting confusion) in 5 Hours
Big travel day today. We left Ozark early after saying goodbye to all the relatives and cows. Heading towards Atlanta we passed the site of the Tuskegee Airmen's airfield.
Then a short trip through the Atlanta suburbs and a stop for lunch. Back on the road through Atlanta, which was heavier trafficked than expected.
Eventually we got on the road through South Carolina and then the mountains towards Brevard, and then on to Pisgah Forest and Sliding Rock.
Very cold water almost scared off the kids, but they took a breath and braved the fast flowing rapids. Sarah only made it down the falls once, but Sam had multiple trips and loved it.
where we have eaten many times, including with my dad and mom a few times years ago. Great pork, chicken, ribs and sides!
Finally we drove 45 minutes to our Asheville hotel. Sarah just caught the sunset over the mountains on her camera.
Our hotel, the Beaucatcher,
is on Tunnel Road, just outside Asheville and across the road from the contractor's office my parents used when they built their house here in the early 90s. We're going by the house tomorrow on our way out of town to Virginia. Check back and see pictures.
