Nice Day for a Wet Wedding

Today was wedding day! Amy's cousin Gail married an Army Major named John at a country church (Asbury Memorial) here in Ozark
It rained furiously just before we left, but the skies cleared as we drove to the church. It was  nice ceremony and there was a reception afterwards with interesting food
and lots of relatives to pose with.




Before the wedding we had breakfast and a swim and the cousins played basketball and horseshoes.
The Microtel is built right up against a working farm, and there are friendly cows that are very curious about us hotel guests. We all enjoyed petting them and posing with them after breakfast.

After the wedding we had some more pool time with all the other relatives who arrived today. A beautiful rainbow appeared while the smallest kids swam.
Then we all headed out for some Mexican food at the Rodeo restaurant.
There were 30 of us!

Tomorrow we head north, through Atlanta and into the mountains of North Carolina. Check back soon!

I have very few pictures to share today because Sarah has gone to bed and didn't share from her phone or Amy's. So here is today's rundown, and a few pics I took. More tomorrow. I made a bagel run, bright and early to the Skyline bagel and deli store. It was well reviewed on Yelp and they were just as nice as the reviews said. Great fresh bagels and New York City coffee, which Sam has become a fan of. We left the hotel for the H & M store on Times Square, where Sarah and Amy found lots of bargains on  some great stylish clothes. Sam and I wandered around and saw some huge lines for Madame Tussaud's museum and some artwork celebrating the busy city. We stopped by Carlos Bake Shop, where "Cake Boss" goods are sold. We all returned to the hotel and packed and checked out while they found our van in valet parking. The Battle (to see all) of Gettysburg

We got up early to arrange some touring today around Gettysburg. Our hotel has a "breakfast cottage" rather than a room off the lobby where the usual breakfast foods are offered. Underneath it is a "haunted" pub. Then we got an auto tour book, CD and smartphone app from the front desk and began our Battlefield tour. We did half today and will finish tomorrow. We met some interesting characters at the battlefield sites. The town is gearing up for the annual re-enactment July 1-3 so lots of enthusiasts are in town and on the tour route. After lunch we swam a little and did some laundry chores. Then it was time for a carriage tour through town, complete with a guitar player/singer who regaled us with Civil War era songs.
