No more Manhattans for us...

I have very few pictures to share today because Sarah has gone to bed and didn't share from her phone or Amy's. So here is today's rundown, and a few pics I took. More tomorrow.

I made a bagel run, bright and early to the Skyline bagel and deli store. It was well reviewed on Yelp and they were just as nice as the reviews said. Great fresh bagels and New York City coffee, which Sam has become a fan of.

We left the hotel for the H & M store on Times Square, where Sarah and Amy found lots of bargains on  some great stylish clothes. Sam and I wandered around and saw some huge lines for Madame Tussaud's museum and some artwork celebrating the busy city.

We stopped by Carlos Bake Shop, where "Cake Boss" goods are sold.

We all returned to the hotel and packed and checked out while they found our van in valet parking. Next we drove to the Klienfeld Bridal shop on 20th Street, Say Yes to the Dress (one of Sarah and Amy's favorite shows) is filmed.  We didn't get a dress, but I told the receptionist we'd be ready for one in about 20 years.
which is where

Next up was the iconic Flatiron building,
just around the corner, and then lunch from hot dog and burrito carts near Madison Square Park. We returned to the car and got on the road. We wanted to see some other facets of Manhattan, so we drove to Harlem and the Apollo Theater.
Then Sarah spotted a restaurant called "Amy Ruth's" (!)
a few blocks away! We'll have to eat there next trip to NY.

Finally it was time to get moving, so we got on the road for the Adirondacks. An uneventful trip brought us to Albany's Central Avenue for dinner at Grandma's Pie
restaurant, and then we made the quick trip to Glen Lake.

We arrived at the Glenmoore Lodge and found many improvements the new owners have made.
We got settled in our rooms and then met my brother Chris' family for soft serve ice cream at our favorite place in the world, Martha's Dandee Cream.

When we got back to the lodge, we found it lively with folks playing horseshoes, talking by the new firepit, and boating and taking photographs from the dock. A much more vibrant scene than in recent years here!

As the sun set, fireworks began from two directions at once: behind the lodge in the direction of the north end of the Lake, and across the south end of lake, from the direction of the Great Escape amusement park.. The shows went on for 40 minutes. Boaters on the Lake honked their approval on their boat horns, and Sarah and Sam swiveled back and forth to see both shows. It all quieted down about 10pm, and the kids headed to bed so they can get up early and hit the Lake.

We're happy to be settled in our Lodge room in the beautiful Adirondacks. More fun tomorrow!
